Beach Glasses
Can I wear glasses at the beach?
Yes, but be aware of the following:Regular prescription eyeglasses lack UV protection and may not block intense glare, increasing the risk of eyestrain and UV damage.
For beach use, glasses need to be upgraded to prescription or non-prescription sunglasses with full UV protection (look for sunglasses labeled “UV400” or “100% UVA/UVB”).
With colored fashion lenses (red/yellow/purple), UV400 UV protection is also required.
Contact lens wearers: It is recommended that daily disposable contact lenses be used in conjunction with non-prescription polarized sunglasses for clear vision without cleaning.
What sunglasses are best for the beach?
Choose sunglasses for beach that block 82-97% of light for the beach with the following features:Polarized lenses reduce water/sand glare;
Lenses with UV400 protection block 100% of UVA/UVB rays;
Fully wraparound frames are designed to keep sand/debris out (e.g., sports frames with high curvature lenses);
Lens colors can be gray/brown/green—lens color options that maintain true color perception while reducing brightness.
Frame material needs to be durable, preferably seawater-resistant frames (e.g., titanium/TR90 plastic) and sand-resistant hinges.
How do you keep your glasses clean at the beach?
1. A common way to keep glasses clean at the beach is to rinse frames/lenses with water to remove salt/sand.2. Gently wipe with pre-moistened lens wipes - non-abrasive and non-alcoholic.
3. store in a hard shell case when not in use.
